Teacher Education

God may be directing your path back to the classroom as a teacher. Remember that teacher in the third grade who made you... well, you know. Certainly, some of our most influential moments for good or ill came in the school classroom.

The Teacher Education program at Trinity is designed to equip the graduate to teach in the public, private, or Christian school. Knowledge of and the skills for teaching are presented within a framework of Christian attitudes and principles.

The Professional Education classes comprise the Elementary Education Major and the Physical Education Major . Students who successfully complete the program meet the requirements for teacher certification with the state of North Dakota. Emphasis is placed upon teaching skills, educational theory, and practice.

Official acceptance into the Elementary Education program is by application during the sophomore year. Final application for the eleven-week student teaching assignment is made during the final 8 weeks of the semester before the student intends to teach.

A core of Biblical and Theological Studies forms the backbone of the Biblical Studies Minor. It represents a foundation for learning and provides a context within which to live a life of Christian faith. A Biblical Studies Major may be chosen to further develop the biblical background of those who choose to do so. Choosing this option will add 20 semester hours to the number of credit hours required for graduation. Students in this program have the latitude to enhance their studies in missions to prepare themselves for overseas teaching opportunities.

An extensive selection of General Education courses expands the horizons of thought and learning with a distinctively Christian perspective.
