Trinity Women move to 2-0 in the Region with win over Faith Baptist Bible College

The Trinity Bible College women’s basketball team (6-5) scored a huge regional victory over Faith Baptist Bible College 66-35 on Saturday. The win moves the Lions to 2-0 in the North Central Region.

The Lady Lions jumped out to an impressive 30-5 lead with nine minutes remaining in the first half. They forced numerous turnovers that led to fast break points for Trinity. This was by far the most complete game Trinity has played this season, as it combined aggressive defense with quality offense. The Lady Lions forced 30 turnovers while only turning the ball over only 19 times. Trinity also shot 6-17 from the three-point line. The lead allowed the Lions to get valuable playing time for everyone on the team.

Coach Nowell had this to say about the game: “It was entertaining and exciting to see the team come together for a big win. They really executed all the things we have been working on lately and I hope this shows the girls that they can play a complete game.”

Sophomore Shianne Montgomery scored 19 points on her birthday to lead the Lions to victory. She shot 3-5 from the three-point line. She also had 5 steals to cap a great birthday game! Freshman Tatiana Alualu scored 17 points while grabbing 5 rebounds. Senior Kristin Ayze rounded out the Lions in double-figures with 14. She also handed out 4 assists in the game.

This was the last game for the Lady Lions this semester. We would like to thank everyone for their support and look forward to competing next semester. Their next game is January 7th in Bemidji, MN.
