The 2011-2012 basketball season kicked-off last night, with
the Lady Lions welcoming Association
Free Lutheran Bible School to Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse. The Lady Lions got off to a
fast start, jumping out to a double digit lead with in the first five minutes
of the game. They would not look back from there. The Lady Lions would use
their press to force 23 AFLBS turnovers. They also used a good first half of
shooting to take a 20 point lead into halftime 41 to 21, shooting 19 for 34
from the field and 3 for 6 on three pointers in the first half. Coming out in
the second half the Lady Lions used their speed and defense to widen their
lead. They held AFLBS to just 16 points in the second half. The 76 to 37 win
gives the Lady Lions a 1-0 start to their season, with another game tonight
Friday, November 4th against AFLBS again with tip off at 4pm.
All of the
Lady Lions would see the court and nine out of the 11 would score. Four Lady
Lions would score double digits Tatiana Alualu (Honolulu, HI) 10 points, Kylie
Flemmer (Beulah, ND) 14
points, Kayla Droste (Ingalls, KS) 12 points, and Treva Nutter (Thedford, NE)
with 14 points. Two Lady Lions helped out with scoring nine points, Shianne
Montgomery (Charlo, MT) and Hannah Kovarik (Thedford, NE) who also led all
players in rebounds with 10.
