The Trinity Lions needed to win Friday night and they put
together 40 minutes of good basketball and did so, now they were looking to
build off of that and win their second straight game in as many nights against
Providence College.
The
first half started a bit slow for both teams as they both struggled to find
their rhythm on the offensive end. The Lions would hold a one point lead 8 to 7,
five minutes into the game, while the Freemen would hold their first and only
lead of the game 14 to 15 halfway through the first half. The Lions then would
find a little rhythm after junior guard Mikey Rosario (Fort Worth, TX) would
make back to back three pointers and would hold an eight point halftime lead 44
to 36. The Lions again were paced by a big first half by freshman Nick Lentz
(Onida, SD) with 18 points and 6 rebounds, while Mike Rosario added 14 points
of his own. The Lions continued to use the fast break to add to their eight
point halftime lead and get up as much as 20 points in the second half. They
would out score the Freeman 50 to 39 in the second half and win 94 to 75.
In the
win the Lions were led again by junior Mikey Rosario with 27 points, 5 rebounds
and 5 assists. He was joined in double digits by Nick Lentz who finished with
his second career double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore
Pete Enos (Rapid City, SD) added 12 points and 4 rebounds. All 11 Lions would find the court in the game.
The win
moves the Lions to 6-4 on the year, with two games left in December and then a
lengthy layoff until January.
