The Trinity Lady Lions faced their second team in as many
nights. The Lady Lions won Friday night over Turtle Mountain Community College
and looked to make it two in a row against Dakota State University. The Lady
Lions scored first off a steal by junior guard Treva Nutter (Thedford, NE).
Dakota State would then go on a 13 – 0 run over the next five minutes of the
game. The Lady Lions would fight back to close the gap to just seven point with
three minutes left after another steal and fast break layup by Treva Nutter. Dakota State would push the lead back to 11
points at halftime 33-22.
The Lady
Trojans would come out fast in the second half and extend their lead to 16
points, where it would stay for most of the second half. The Lady Lions who
struggled from the field (17 of 52) in the second half would only score 23 more
points. Dakota State would use 47 points in the second half to win over the
Lady Lions 80 to 45. Leading the Lady Lions in scoring was Treva Nutter who
scored 14 points and had four assists and three steals. Joining Treva in double
digits was sophomore forward Tatiana Alualu (Honolulu, HI) with 11 points.
Freshman forward Hannah Kovarik (Thedford, NE) led all players with nine
rebounds and added eight points. The Lady Lions are now 4-3 on the year and 4-0
in conference play.
