Lady Lions Hold on to Win by 4

                The Lady Lions travelled to Bottineau, North Dakota on Tuesday to face NJCAA Dakota College at Bottineau. Going into the game the Lady Lions were 4-3, coming off a loss. The Lady Lions would build a 20 point lead but the Lady Jacks would battle back to get it as close as 2 points in the closing minutes, but the Lady Lions would hold on to win 61 to 57.

                The opening minutes of the game were back and forth for the Lady Lions and Lady Jacks. Each team would seize the lead only for the other team to gain it back. The Lady Lions would finally use a 16 to three run in the last six minutes of the first half to give the Lady Lions a 37 to 21 lead. At the half the Lady Lions were being led by junior guard Treva Nutter (Thedford, NE) who had 20 of the Lady Lions 37 points.

                The Lady Lions would push their led to as much as 20 points early in the second half, with their biggest lead 43 to 23 with 15 minutes left in the game. Then the Lady Jacks would put together a 20 to 7 run to bring the score to 51 to 43 with four minutes to play. Dakota College would keep battling to bring the game to 59 to 54 with just less than 30 seconds to play. The Lady Jacks then drove down and Jackie Miller would hit a three to bring the game to 59 to 57 with 20 seconds left. Treva Nutter would get fouled after the inbounds. She would make both free throws and the Lady Lions would win 61 to 57.

            The Lady Lions were led in all categories by Treva Nutter who had an outstanding game with 30 points (8-21 from the field and 11-12 on free throws), 14 rebounds (six offensive), six assists, and four steals. Joining Treva in double digits was junior guard Shianne Montgomery (Charlo, MT) who had 12 points and seven rebounds. Kylie Flemmer (Beulah, ND) had a big night rebounding with 10. The Lady Jacks were led by freshman guard Jackie Miller who had 24 points and five rebounds.
           

The win moves the Lady Lions to 5-3 on the season. The Lady Lions have five games left in the first semester with three home games in three days, December 1st, 2nd and 3rd. They then finish the first semester with two road games December 7th at Jamestown College and December 9th at Valley City State University.
