Lady Lions Bounce Back after Tough Week

                The Lady Lions have been busy in 2012, this past week they played four games in just six days. Monday night they travelled to Bismarck, ND and play United Tribes Technical College in a game that came down to the wire. They lost by only two points and had a chance to tie, but missed the shot and lost 70 to 68. Tuesday night they played host to the University of Minnesota-Morris, they lost 83 to 35 and on Friday night they travelled to Madison, SD to play Dakota State University and lost 78 to 62. On Saturday they ventured all the way down to Ankeny, IA to square off against regional opponent Faith Baptist Bible College.

                The Lady Lions looked to get back to their winning ways after a three game losing streak and they came out strong in the first half against the Faith Eagles. They used a 20 to 6 run to start the game to take a 17point lead into halftime 32 to 15. The second half was a little lower scoring as the Lady Lions would score 25 and Faith only 19. The Lady Lions went on to win 57 to 34. The Lady Lions forced 34 Eagle turnovers and out rebounded them only 38 to 35. The Lady Lions had four players in double digits Junior guard Treva Nutter and sophomore forward Kayla Droste both at 14 points, Treva added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals, while Kayla added 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Junior guard Shianne Montgomery added 10 points, 4 steals and 3 assists, while freshman forward Hannah Daly came off the bench for a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

                The win moves the Lady Lions to 16-11 this season with three more regular season games to go. They have eight days off before their next contest, which will be their last away game of the season in Devils Lake, ND against Lake Region State College, Tuesday February 7th. They then host Crossroads College Friday and Saturday February 10th and 11th for their last regular season home games. The Lions will be hosting both the NIAC Conference Tournament February 16th, 17th and 18th and the North Central Regional Tournament February 24th and 25th.
