It is
time again for TBC Lions fans to get excited about the upcoming Football season.
The Lions Football Team is looking to improve on a 3-8 season and has already
logged a week of practice time. The Lions Football Team is once again led by
Head Coach Dustin Morgan, who is in his third year as Head Coach and Athletic
Director. Returning to help Coach Morgan on his staff is Defensive Coordinator Orah
Garst, who is also in his third year as coach. Also, returning for his third
year is Running Backs Coach Sannon Norick. Nathan Foster is back for a second
season as Assistant Defensive Line Coach.
The Lions welcome four new coaches to the staff, Tim Rasmussen as the
Offensive Line Coach, Wade Nelson as the Defensive Line Coach, Mo Mahoney as
the Linebacker Coach and Greg Washington as the Assistant Running Backs Coach. Returning
to the squad are 5 previous All-Americans, 2009 All-American Offensive Lineman
Jordy Nunez (Opa-locka, FL), 2009 All-American Defensive Back Joel Sandoz (St.
Paul, NE), 2010 All-American Defensive Back Cole White (Grass Valley. CA), 2010
All-American Offensive Lineman Drew Carter (Philadelphia, PA) and 2010
All-American Defensive Lineman Jose Casanova (Orlando, FL). Along with those
key returners the Lions have a total of 31 players coming back from last season
and have added 27 newcomers. The Lions will be tested away from home this year
with 7 road games, including games in Iowa, Minnesota and Kansas. They are slated for an 11 game season which
leaves only 4 at home. They will open the season on Saturday, August 27th
against Haskell Indian Nations University at Bob Tatum Field in Ellendale. The
Lions follow their home opener with a short drive to square off against their
new rival, the Presentation College Saints in Aberdeen, SD. Kick-off for both of those games will be 1pm.
