Trinity Lions Athletics This Week

This Week:  Trinity Bible College Lions (10-14 overall, 5-1 in NIAC) look to get back into the action with a road game Tuesday and a pair of home games Friday night and Saturday after a 9 day layoff.  The Lions head out on the road to Devils Lake, North Dakota on Tuesday night to face Lake Region State College (N.D.) (Record Unavailable), Tip-off is slated to start at 8:30 p.m.  TBC returns home Friday night to kick off their last two regular season home games.  The Lions host Crossroads College (M.N.) (2-8), tip-off is set for Friday night at 8p.m. and Saturday at 3p.m. Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse. At Friday night’s games will be Senior Night for the Lions.

Last Meeting:  The Lions have not faced Lake Region State College before; it will be their first and only meeting this season.  They have not faced Crossroad College this year either; Crossroads won both meetings last season.

Last Time Out:  Trinity Bible College was last in action in January, when they played 4 games in 6 days. They lost to United Tribes Technical College, Monday January 23rd in a game that saw the Lions come back from a double digit deficit in the second half, only to come up short 79 to 72. The Lions then lost at University of Minnesota- Morris 74 to 62. After a brief two days off, the Lions traveled to Madison, SD and played Dakota State University in an exhibition and lost 84-55. The next day they traveled down to Ankeny, IA to play regional opponent Faith Baptist Bible College, in a game which they controlled from the start and won 78 to 69 to move to 2-1 in the North Central Region.

National Rankings:  According to the NCCAA statistics as of Jan. 31st, Trinity Bible College is ranked 3rd in the nation in steals per game (11 spg) and 4th in the nation in defensive field goal percentage (41.5%). The Lions are also 11th in the nation in free throw percentage defense (67.7 %). The Lions junior guard Mikey Rosario ranks 7th in the nation for points per game (22.6 ppg). Sophomore guard AJ Anthony leads the nation in steals per game (3.9 spg), while freshman forward Barry Bighorn ranks 13th (2.3) and Mikey Rosario ranks 19th (2.2 spg).

Lions Leaders: Mikey Rosario leads the Lions in scoring with an average of 22.6 points per game.  Freshman Nick Lentz leads the team in rebounds with 151 on the season, averaging 6 rebounds per game.  AJ Anthony averages 3.9 steals per game (51 total). 

Up Next: Trinity Bible College will be hosting the NIAC Conference tournament February 16th, 17th and 18th and they also will be hosting the North Central Regional Tournament February 24th and 25th.
