Trinity Women End Their Season with a Tough Loss to Faith
The Lions entered the Regional Tournament with the third seed, drawing the #2 seeded Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles as their first opponent. It was a hard fought game for the Lions as they pressed the whole game and battled against Faith’s 6’3 post player in the middle. “We found ourselves in several point deficits throughout the game, but the ladies kept fighting back and wouldn’t let Faith put them away,” says Coach Nowell. With a little over five minutes on the clock, the Lions cut Faith’s lead to within three points, but were never able to push through to gain a lead.
Shianne Montgomery led in all statistical categories for the Lions that night with a personal game high of 28 points and 15 rebounds shooting almost 50% from the field and 83% from the free throw line. Kristin Ayze also had 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Coach Nowell had this to say about this year’s team: “I can never complain about how hard this team works each time they set foot on the floor. It was a hard way to end the season, but it cannot overshadow all their accomplishments this year. They came a long way this season with a Conference Championship and will be a great core group to build around for next year.”
