College football Lions and Head Coach Dustin Morgan signed Western Nebraska
standout, Kalen Coats on Tuesday, March 13th. Kalen is a 5'10 180 pounds running back, who ran the ball 131 times
for 1229 yards, an astounding 9.4 yards per carry, and accumulated 21
touchdowns his senior year. Kalen also rang up 16 receptions for 179
yards, 11.2 avg., long 30, 3 touchdowns; leaving him with 19.9 yards per
receiving a game. Kalen finished his senior year with a plethora of
awards, including: WTC All-Conference team, All-State honorable mention, Star
Herald All-Region team, Billy Mills Club 1000 yard rusher, and Class C1-10 All-
District team. He also finished his brilliant career with 5 school
records: most rushing yards in season, most rushing yards in career, most TDs
in season, most touchdowns in career, and, most points scored in season and
career. Kalen joins a Lions team that is coming off its second best
record in school history at 5-5 and he will no doubt be "in the mix,"
according to Coach Morgan, when vying for playing time as a true freshman.
"Kalen adds an element to our already talented backfield that will
only compliment what we already have in place. We are very excited about
his speed, explosiveness, and his work ethic!"
