Trinity Lions Football Weekly

This Week:  Trinity Bible College Lions Football (0 - 0) open their season Saturday, August 25th in Deerfield, Illinois against Trinity International University. The Lions finished the 2011 season with a 5-5 record, the best season in recent memory. The Lions welcome back for the 4th season head coach Dustin Morgan. Joining Coach Morgan on the sidelines this season is 4th year assistant coach Orah Garst, 2nd year assistant coach Nathan Foster, 1st year assistant coach Marc Torro, 1st year assistant coach Ryan Wolfenden and 1st year assistant coach Jordy Nunez.

Last Time Out:  Trinity Bible College won their final game of the 2011 season against Haskell Indian Nations University 14-7. The Lions were led on offense in the final game of the 2011 season by Bryan Clark with 99 yards on 21 carries and he also went seven of 24 passing for 31 yards. Jerome Lowery had two punt returns for 43 yards including, a 35 yard one he took for a touchdown. Ryan Wolfenden led the Lions on defense with eight total tackles, with one for loss. Josh Conner added three tackles with one for loss, to go with an interception.

National Rankings:  The Lions had the number one ranked defense in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletics Association) last season. The Lions also had two players named NCCAA All-Americans after last season, offensive lineman Drew Carter and defensive back Cole White. They also had defensive coordinator Orah Garst namedAssistant Coach of the Year”.

Lions Leaders: The Lions have four pre-season All-Americans. They are center Tucker Risse (Martin, SD), wide receiver Barry Bighorn (Culbertson, MT), defensive lineman Jose Casanova (Weslaco, TX ) and defensive back Josh Connor (Nebraska City, NE). The Lions have only three seniors, 15 juniors, and around 40 freshmen.
