The
Lady Lions Volleyball season is well underway and they have been very busy.
They are coming off a busy weekend in which the Lady Lions played 4 games in 2
days. They finished 2-2 in the North Central Invite and were looking to improve
as they had 5 games in 6 days.
They
first traveled to Jamestown, ND to take on Jamestown College JV. The Lady Lions would lose 0-3 to the Jimmies.
The loss moves the Lady Lions to 2-3 on the season. They then traveled to
Fergus Falls, MN to face Fergus Falls Community College Lady Spartans on
Wednesday night. They would lose the first two games 16-25 and 15-25. They
would fight hard in the third game but would come up short as they would lose
the third and final game 21-25 to the Lady Spartans. The loss moves the Lady
Lions to 2-4.
The
Lady Lions then traveled on Friday to Valley City, ND for a double header. They
first faced the host school Valley City State University .VCSU would make quick
work of the match winning in just 3 games 11-25, 13-25 and 13-25. They Lady
Lions then faced Briercrest College out of Canada. They would fight hard losing
two close games 22-25 and 20-25. Briercrest would finish the match off by
winning the third game 11-25. The two losses bring the Lady Lions to 2-6 on the
season.
The
Lady Lions finally got to break in the newly remodeled court (Thanks to Avera
St. Luke’s) in the Ray Ulmer Fieldhouse and hosted Lake Region State College
from Devils Lake, ND for their first home game of the season. Using the energy
from the home crowd the Lady Lions came out fast winning the first two games
25-23 and 25-18. In a hard fought third game Lake Region found themselves the
victor winning 20-25 over the Lady Lions. The Lady Lions would then battle to
win the fourth game 27-25 beating Lake Region 3 games to 1. The win moves the
Lady Lions to 3-6 on the season.
The
Lady Lions finished a very busy week 1-4; they played 9 games in 8 days to
start their season. The pace slows down some for the Lady Lions as they have
only 2 games this week. They travel to Aberdeen, SD to face Presentation
College Saints on Tuesday, September 18th at 7:00pm. They then
welcome Dakota College at Bottineau to Ellendale on Thursday, September 20th
at 6:00pm for their Homecoming Game. It is a “White Out” so come out and
support your Lady Lions Volleyball by wearing all white to the game!
