Lady Lions Fall at Valley City

Valley City, ND:   The Trinity Bible College Lady Lions were looking to end the first half of their season on a high note as they traveled to Valley City, ND to face off against NAIA foe Valley City State University. Heading into the game the Lady Lions were ranked 8th in the NCCAA DII rankings and Valley City State University was ranked 19th in the NAIA polls.

The lady Lions came out strong and matched the Vikings in the opening minutes of the game.  The Lady Lions jumped out to an early 6 point advantaged but the Vikings quickly fought back and took the lead. The two teams were tied three times in the first half with only 2 lead changes. After the Vikings took the lead back they never looked back. The Vikings took a 40 to 26 lead into halftime over the Lady Lions. The Vikings converted 42 percent (17 for 40) of their first half field goals compared to the Lady Lions 47 percent (10 for 21). The Lady Lions were also 4 for 6 (66 percent) on threes at halftime where as the Vikings were 1 for 11 (.091 percent).

The Vikings adjusted and tightened their defense in the second half, holding the Lady Lions to just 19 points in the second half. The Vikings scored 38 second half points to go on to win 78 to 45 over the Lady Lions. The Vikings shots 50 percent in the second half and held the Lady Lions to 25 percent (7 for 28).

In the loss the Lady Lions were led by senior guard Treva Nutter who had 17 points on 7 for 12 for shooting and 2 for 3 on threes. Junior Kylie Flemmer added 11 points on 4 for 10 shooting (40 percent). Shianne Montgomery pitched in 9 points. The Lady Lions shots 34 percent (17 for 49) from the field in the game and 35 percent (7 for 20) on three’s.  

The loss drops the Lady Lions to 7-7 on the season and they now have a few weeks off to rest and recover before kicking off the New Year with a trip to Phoenixville, PA for the Assemblies of God Credit Union Classic Tournament. The Lady Lions will face three schools out there, Kentucky Christian University, the host school Valley Forge Christian College and Trinity University. The AGCU Classic is January 10th, 11th and 12th
