Lady Lions Come Up Short on the Road

Morris, MN:    The Trinity Bible College Lady Lions team traveled to Morris, MN Tuesday night to face off against University of Minnesota Morris Cougars. Heading into the games the Lady Lions were 9-9 on the season and were ranked 5th in the NCCAA DII standings and ranked 1st overall in the NCCAA for steals per game with 16.2.

The Cougars would jump out early to a 12 to 5 lead over the Lady Lions just four minutes into game. The Lady Lions would then use a 16 to 10 run to move within one point of the Cougars 21 to 22 with 10 minutes left in the first half. The rest of the half saw the two teams trading leads and ties and with four minutes to play the Lady Lions grabbed a four point lead that they would hold until halftime. The Lady Lions went into half with a two point lead 32 to 30. At halftime Shianne Montgomery was leading the Lady Lions with 15 points and 3 rebounds.

The two teams picked up where they left off in the first half trading leads as the game went on. The Lady Lions grabbed the lead back from the Cougars with 12 minutes to play only to see the Cougars take it right back two minutes later. The two teams continued to trade the lead back and forth until the Cougars had the 2 point lead with less than a minute to play. The Lady Lions passed it around and missed a three pointer that would have given them the lead. They then had to foul and Morris only made one free throw putting the Lady Lions down just 3 points with under 40 seconds to play. However the Lady Lions would fail to convert again and the Cougars held on to win by four points 61 to 57.
