
Ellendale, ND: The Trinity Bible College Lions last
home game of the season saw them matched up against NJCAA opponent United
Tribes Technical College Thunderbirds of Bismarck, ND. Headed into the match up
the Lions finally turned the ship around and were riding a four game win
streak. The Lions were ready to give their diehard fans one last exciting game.
The Lions scored first but then found themselves trailing
early 7 to 8 just five minutes into the game. Once the Lions calmed down and
found a rhythm they tied the game up 17 all with 11 minutes to play in the
first half. They then used a 15 to 9 run and seized the lead and never looked
back. The Lions held a lead for the rest of the game from that point and
finished the first half on an 8 to 6 run taking a 40 to 32 lead into the break.
At halftime the Lions were being paced by Pete Enos’ stellar shooting. Pete hit
4 out of 4 threes in the first half for 12 first half points.
United Tribes came out in the second half using a 14 to 8
run to get within two points of the Lions with 15 minutes to play in the game
but the Lions responded well. They used a 13 to 5 run to push their lead back
to 10 points with nine minutes to play. The Lions then outscored the
Thunderbirds 23 to 20 over the final nine minutes of play to come away with the
victory 84 to 71.
In the win the Lions were led by senior Mikey Rosario who
had 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Pete Enos pitched in 17 points on 6
for 8 shooting and 5 for 6 from three. AJ Anthony helped out with 10 points and
6 assists while senior David Rohrbach added 15 points off the bench for the
Lions. The Lions had 19 assists on 30 made shots and pulled down 9 offensive
rebounds.
The win moves the Lions to 12 and 14 on the season and
giving them five wins in a row heading into their NIAC Conference Tournament.
The Lions who captured the NIAC regular season crown will go this weekend into
the tournament as the #1 seed and face #4 seed AFLBS at 6pm on Friday, February
15th. If they win they face the winner of #2 seed Turtle Mountain
Community College versus #3 Crossroads College on Saturday, February 16th
at 4pm. The NIAC Tournament this year is being hosted by Turtle Mountain
Community College in Belcourt, ND.
