Filing for an Incomplete

INCOMPLETE GRADES

An incomplete is negotiated when the student has failed to meet specific and important requirements of a course because of extenuating circumstances but has in other aspects done passing work for the semester. Such negotiations will take place between the student, the instructor, and the department chair under which the instructor teaches. In those instances where the department chair is the instructor, a second chair will be involved in the negotiation process.
The grade of incomplete must be removed within a single six-week period following the end of a semester. If the deficiency is not made up within the six-week period, the incomplete will revert to the grade earned at the time the incomplete was negotiated.

While timeframes are set by faculty members at the time of negotiation, no deadline may exceed one six-week period. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the academic affairs committee and/or the senior vice president.

The last day to file for an incomplete grade will be Friday, April 14, 2008. All requests must be received by 5:00 p.m.
