About

Justin Gibson joined the faculty at Trinity Bible College and Graduate School after spending seven rewarding and formative years teaching English at Rapid City Central High School. His main academic focus is on literature with a preference for English (British) literature. Professor Gibson’s primary teaching interests are the Anglo-Saxon or “Old English” era and the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. He is one of the founding members of the Socratic Club and is active in presenting at their meetings.

Professor Gibson, his wife Jeannine, and their three kids live in Ellendale. He and his family are happy to be involved at New Life AG in Ellendale where he currently teaches the adult Sunday School class. Justin enjoys reading, biking, taking walks (weather permitting), games (board or video), sci-fi movies, and re-reading The Lord of the Rings or The Silmarillion.

Professor Gibson’s passion is for students to learn to have rational and reasonable conversations with people with whom they may disagree. Also to learn to read closely to not only extract full meaning from the text being read, but to be able to appreciate the potential beauty, wisdom, and truth contained within. He believes that the ability to read and reason well are critical so that Christians are “always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (I Peter 2:15b ESV).
